Week 23 or La Comida
This week first of was a rough week with investigators. We had a really, really tough one. First off, lets talk about some goodness of the food here.
Anyways, the food. Lets talk about Bandeja Paisa. Its a really good plate that is pretty normal here. It also is a crap ton of food. It has rice, avocado, beans, pork rind, shredded meat, arepa, sausage and, plantain. Its honestly super good and normally you want to die after eating it all because its so much. But that is one meal of colombia that I thought I share with you guys. And for another quick story about food its something called mazamorra. Its one of the weirdest things that there is here in Medellin. Its milk, well hot milk and corn. And people eat it with bocadillo. Its this sweet kind of candy thing. But its honestly so strange. This is also a pretty normal lunch to have. Bandeja Paisa and for dessert mazamorra. For me, its a little hard to eat mazamorra because when you get a fat piece of corn in your mouth with hot milk, it makes you feel a little uncomfortable.
Well, now that you all have gotten an insight of my colombian food that I eat very often. Lets talk about this rough week that we had. We lost our firm baptism, Nicholas. He decided to do the first communion. But its because his grandma has a ton of influence on him. So that is really hard. But we said we would try and stop by one time a week or what not to see how he is doing. But it was really sad to see him so confused and also to see him take this decision and do the first communion. Oh well, we will keep trying. Also we didnt find one new investigator this week. So that was really rough honestly. And out of the 10 people probably more that we had committed to going to church not one of them showed up. So honestly it was a really hard week. We are still pushing for our other investigators that need to get married. Because they are the ones that want to get baptized. But in general its been a rough one.
To help pump up the mood of this email, I would like to share something that a leader told me during an exchange. I am struggling a little bit with some things and a leader told me that we are blind when we are having difficulties. We are constantly receiving blessings and when we are waiting for a big answer these small answers are passing us. This was really cool for me to think about. That I am receiving so many answers and blessings every day. I just need to open my eyes and see what is happening around me. But, this is a little spiritual thought from my week. I encourage all of you to open your eyes and see the blessings that you are receiving!
Besides this, its been a slow week. Hopefully we can pick it up this last week of the transfer. I think Elder Barazorda will be leaving the area this week. But here's to a week of hoping, praying, and working to receive more results. Love you all and thanks for all the support.
